Udhyam Learning Foundation, through Udhyam Vyapaar, aims to bring alive its mission ‘Making Bharat Entrepreneurial’ among the nano-entrepreneurs. They work with existing entrepreneurs (Vyapaaris) who are essentially necessity entrepreneurs, earning on an average less than INR 25,000 a month. Udhyam Vyapaar helps these Vyapaaris scale their businesses, make them successful, and move them towards their highest potential.

The long term vision is to make nano-entrepreneurship a profitable and respectable profession, providing an avenue for people to become proud job-creators instead of job-seekers.

Udhyam Vyapaar currently works with entrepreneurs in urban and rural areas, across multiple business segments like ironing vendors, food street vendors, home based food businesses, tailors, small cloth shops and many more. While working with entrepreneurs of each business segment, a unique business-specific solution matrix is created across sourcing, market linkage, product and processes. This ever-evolving solution matrix accelerates the process of solution identification when working with other entrepreneurs from the same business segment.

  • Market Access: Udhyam Vyapaar works to forge connections with local retail, wholesale and online marketplaces. Over a 24-month period, the goal is to help entrepreneurs achieve self-sufficiency with market access while ensuring they effectively meet market demands
  • Sourcing: Identify high-quality, cost-effective input materials tailored to each business, optimising resource use and reducing costs
  • Innovation: Support product and service innovations to enhance competitiveness and appeal in the market
  • Business Process Improvements: Focus on refining business processes to improve efficiency and operational effectiveness
  • Behavioural Training and Mentoring: Efforts involve building trust in new solutions and encouraging entrepreneurs to experiment with and embrace change. Over time, with continuous support they will develop enhanced entrepreneurial skills, risk-taking abilities and problem-solving capabilities, while also addressing gender-based barriers

Udhyam Learning Foundation’s involvement in Saamuhika Shakti is pivotal in transforming the landscape for entrepreneurs from waste picker families.
